About ACHSA

Who is ACHSA?

MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION

ACHSA is a local support group for home learning families in the Fraser Valley. We are one of the largest home school groups in Canada. ACHSA has over 100 families, and is growing each year. Our group provides support, prayer, opportunities, and friendships. We believe face to face connection in the context of Christian fellowship is a valuable means of  finding strength and confirmation for this journey.

The Executive committee prays for the members of the association and plans encouraging fellowship with other Christian home schooling families. We on the executive committee believe our task is to facilitate activities for the membership, not provide them. we greatly encourage members to plan activities they desire for their families and invite the association to join in. Members are blessed as they see their initiative benefiting other families. As a large association, we have a wide variety of connections, skills, interests and abilities to share with one another.

Online family membership is for the school calendar year from September to August.  In order for us to update our records accurately and prepare for the year, we appreciate your co-operation with timely registration.

Please see the Registration page for more info on registration fees and payment options.

Note: Registration is not complete until we receive your online registration form and your payment and you receive an email confirmation.  If this fee is a financial stretch, please ask our leadership about sponsorship.

We are happy to support the BC Home Educators' Association (BCHEA) and Homeschool Special Education support group (SPED). Both of these organizations plan various events and host support groups for home schooling families.

Membership Benefits

As a Member You are invited to:
  • Participate in our Learning Pods, attend our regular Mom’s Night Out evenings and any special events or activities planned throughout the year. Each event will require sign up and may require payment to hold your place.
  • Have your high school students participate in our monthly youth events (grades 7-12).
  • Attend any organized field trips.
  • Be included in our exclusive closed email chain.  We do not share your email address outside of ACHSA.
  • Receive a contact directory of ACHSA members.

Your Fees at Work
The registration fees are spent on things that will benefit the membership: rental of facilities, special speakers, website, subsidized events and insurance are a few examples. The ACHSA executive committee makes these decisions.  This year, the ACHSA Leadership Team would like to support the Learning Pods with a grant to help subsidize expenses directly related to the learning pod theme.  Grants will be given up to $50 per pod as long as receipts are saved and submitted.

Non-Members
Non-members may check out ONE event before registering.  Due to Covid-19, we are requiring formal RSVPs for attendance at each event, including the Fall Kickoff, one of the Mom's Night Out evenings or a youth event, providing they have RSVP'd on the required form.  Further attendance will require membership.

ACHSA events are sometimes geared towards specific age groups.  We ask that parents be aware of this and are sensitive to distracting noises of young children in consideration of the individuals who have invested time and preparation to present to our group.  We do our best to let you know ahead of time.

Statement of Faith

  • All home learners are welcome regardless of their personal Christian beliefs.
  • The Bible, as originally given by God, is the inspired, complete, authoritative, written Word of God, without any mistakes (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 4:12).
  • God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh, being fully God and fully man except without sin (John 1:1-2; Colossians 1:15; John 10:30).
  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully God and fully man.  He lived a perfect life, was crucified for our sins, rose from the dead and is now sitting at the right hand of God (John 1:1,14; Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26).
  • Everyone has sinned.  Forgiveness and salvation are offered as a gift; free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone (Romans 3:23,  Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 10: 9-10).

"I have been blessed by knowing some of the ladies in ACHSA. Throughout my years of home schooling I have found encouragement at the meetings to continue on in the journey."
